Louisville City Council Meeting
June 5, 2001
Page 9

COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS

Mayer informed Council on the testing of the Boulder County Recycling and Compost
Authority's new facility. Preliminary results show the acceptance testing went very well
and full operation should commence in approximately three weeks. Mayer stated that the
City of Boulder's representative has raised several concerns with the IGA, which
essentially turn operations over to the County. He stated that he would meet with
representatives from the City of Boulder to determine how substantial those objections
are and noted that he had asked for those objections in writing. He stated that the City of
Boulder wants the Advisory Committee to have a weighted vote based on the population
in 1995. Mayer noted that discussions on this at the last Authority meeting were not
favorably met by other municipalities. He stated that there will be ongoing discussion
relative to citizen advisory members in addition to the Advisory Committee. He voiced
his desire that this be resolved before the IGA dissolves the Authority in December.

Sisk thanked the Town of Superior for hosting the luncheon meeting between the two
communities. He stated that it was very productive and that there was serious indication
that they should meet again. He reported that the McCaslin Interchange was an item of
discussion. He suggested that Council make themselves available for future meetings and
discussion with the Town of Superior.

Davidson reported that the Mayors Along the Turnpike met with the state legislators who
represent the citizens along the turnpike. Discussions centered on the means of
transportation, light transit, commuter rail, rapid transit buses and widening the highway.
He stated that the meeting went very well and noted that there is statewide support for the
US-36 project.

Levihn reminded everyone that the Taste of Louisville is the Saturday, June 9.
Brown reminded everyone that the Touch a Track event was also this weekend.

ADJOURNMENT

Brown moved that Council adjoum (8:00 p.m.), seconded by Howard. All in favor.

Tom Davidsi~n, ~Ma~or

ATTEST:

Nancy V~rr4 City
Clerk

9
