Louisville City Council Meeting
July 3, 2001
Page 14

Howard voiced concern that the underlying request was to add a small addition, and an
amended PUD has come forward. He stated his disagreement with the amended PUD to
accommodate a small addition.

Edwards stated that once unincorporated land surrounding the area and there was not a
sense of future developments. He concurred with the comments of Council members who
did not want to grant permission to build 6,000 SF homes that would change the character
of the neighborhood.

Levihn voiced concern and stated that there should be constraints that prohibit additional
floors. Edwards stated that there are constraints in place that prohibit blocking the solar
passage.

Levihn asked City Attorney Light if an amendment could be added that would prohibit
additional height. Light stated that the Council has the authority to do so. He stated that it
could be remanded back to the Planning Commission for their input. He explained that
on a height issue, an additional restriction would require a change to the Resolution, and
in the language on the PUD document.

Davidson asked the current lot coverage of the home in question. Wood stated that the
house is 2,300 square feet.

Davidson suggested granting a percent of lot coverage that would permit his addition.

City Administrator Simmons asked the applicant how much square feet or lot coverage
would be required for the addition, including the existing residence.

Edward estimated 2,500 square feet, including the addition. Simmons stated that a cap
could be put on the square footage on all stories.

Mayer stated that the request is to increase a 2,300 SF footprint to a 2,500 SF footprint,
and 3,000 for the combined. He stated that would serve the applicant's request and
maintain the character of the neighborhood. Mayer stated that it is important to remember
the PUD sets the zoning for the neighborhood and the character. He voiced his opinion
that it would be fair for everyone in the neighborhood if the limitations were less
restrictive. Mayer asked that the matter be continued for Staff review.

Keany asked Edwards about the original footprint of the home. Edwards stated the
original footprint of the home is 2,300 square feet.

Keany concurred with Councilman Mayer and suggested another way would be to limit
expansion to 25% of the home.

14
