She also supported the seasonal patios. <br /> Patrick Walsh, 1201 Main Street, Louisville, CO supported permanent patios and <br /> established walkways for safety reasons. He noted there are ample parking spaces at <br /> the library and encouraged people to walk and bike. He suggested more bike racks. <br /> Bill Carlson, 11713 Montgomery Circle, Longmont, CO supported permanent patios. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Council member Keany disclosed he is a DBA member and at one time served as the <br /> DBA President. He supported the horizontal rails, reduced height of the railing without <br /> compromising safety, adding wood caps to the railing and wider patio platforms to <br /> accommodate chairs. He did not support mid-block crossings. He supported seasonal <br /> patios and opening up patios for other businesses on Main Street. In a future CIP he <br /> requested the Council look at incorporating additional trees to the 700 and 800 block of <br /> Main Street. He inquired if the patios are deeper, with flower boxes, will the narrowed <br /> traffic lane reduce the vehicle speed limit. <br /> Mayor Muckle asked if there will enough room for cars and buses on Main Street. <br /> Public Works Director Kowar stated the Planning Division and Public Works Division <br /> have discussed traffic calming measures with the expanded patios. <br /> Council member Jasiak favored the midblock crossing for pedestrian safety, a <br /> downtown kiosk and a walkway to the Steinbaugh Pavilion, the Library and the Street <br /> Faire. She had favored seasonal patios, but liked the permanent streetscape. She <br /> supported providing water and power. She felt the patios benefit all the residents of <br /> Louisville. She suggested the cost of maintenance for the patios should be shared by <br /> the businesses. <br /> Council member Yarnell supported safety for pedestrians, but did not feel a midblock <br /> crossing would solve the problem. She did not support pedestrian traffic in the streets. <br /> She supported a public partnership for maintenance of the patios. <br /> Mayor Pro Tem Dalton noted the patios have contributed to the City's sales tax <br /> revenues and benefitted all the residents, the restaurants, the businesses and the <br /> vitality of the downtown Louisville. He felt the trees would add a distraction to drivers <br /> and pedestrians. He supported the midblock crossing. <br /> Council member Loo also supported seasonal patios, but was undecided on the mid- <br /> block crossing. <br /> Mayor Muckle inquired about the trees in the streetscape. Public Works Director Kowar <br /> stated the staff could investigate a bollard type of planter. <br />
