City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />October 15, 2012 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />Recreation district with Lafayette and Superior to fund an Aquatics Facility. <br />Lafayette’s first priority, however, is construction/completion of the ball fields at <br />Harney Lastoka. There was also some brief discussion about the Lafayette <br />Indian Peaks Golf Course, funding and operations. <br /> <br />Highway 42 Plans <br />Planning Director Troy Russ reviewed the packet information on the highlights of <br />the Highway 42 work. Discussion centered around the alternatives for roadway <br />improvements on Highway 42, and how those may impact Lafayette further <br />north. <br /> <br />Transportation Issues <br /> <br />Discussion centered on FasTracks alternatives, priorities for both communities <br />include interest in seeing additional mobility in the region, along with <br />increased/accessible bus service. Louisville and Lafayette also discussed B- <br />Cycle opportunities in the area as well as possible future quiet zone <br />implementation along the BNSF line. Lafayette would be interested in working <br />with Louisville on quiet zones. <br /> <br />Banners On Light Poles <br />The communities discussed the issue regarding XCEL no longer allowing <br />banners on any of their street light poles after December 31, 2012. Lafayette <br />does not believe this is a “none or all” issue and that a sensible solution can be <br />found to the issue. Craig Eicher, representative from XCEL, spoke at the <br />meeting and said they were working with the communities on this issue. <br /> <br />Other <br />There was some brief discussion on economic development incentives available <br />in both communities. <br /> <br />Meeting Adjourned at 7:30 PM. <br /> <br /> <br />Submitted by Heather Balser <br />10/22/12 <br />
