Attorney Light responded they were asking
for a voluntary donation at the door which could be construed as paying for the
liquor so the organizers were making sure everything was above-board by
applying for this permit. Show Cause Hearing - Maharaja I, Inc. d/b/a Maharaja Cuisine of India
- Hotel and Restaurant License - 1132 W. Dillon Road

Vice-Chair Mulvahill noted Special Prosecutor Stefan Fredricksmeyer was in
attendance and the licensee was present. Mulvahill noted the Authority had a
copy of a motion to continue submitted by Mr. Fredricksmeyer. Mulvahill asked
Mr. Fredricksmeyer to explain the basis for the motion. Stefan Fredricksmeyer
entered his name for the record and introduced Zuned Khan, husband of Suhena
Khatun, licensee. Fredricksmeyer reported the licensee had submitted checks to
the City Finance Department for the sales tax owed on Monday, November 21,
2005. He then filed the motion to continue the show cause hearing based on the
good faith effort on the part of the licensee to bring the sales tax payments up to
date. With the show cause hearing moved to the next meeting, the City would
know if the checks cleared. Mulvahill clarified the Authority could only consider
the months of payment noted in the show cause order, not into the future. Mr.
Khan commented the checks had cleared according to this bank. Mulvahill
moved the Authority approve the City's motion to continue the show cause
hearing to the next Local Licensing Authority meeting which is Monday, January
23,2006 at 7:00 PM. Rommelfanger seconded. Roll Call Vote: Lipton - yes,
