Louisville City Council Meeting <br />November 20, 2001 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />SWEARING IN OF LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL JUDGE AND APOINTMENT <br />AND SWEARING IN OF LOUISVILLE DEPUTY MUNICIPAL JUDGE <br /> <br />City Clerk Nancy Varra swore in W. Bruce Joss to the office of Municipal Judge. <br /> <br />Davidson asked the Legal Committee to make a recommendation on the appointment of <br />the Deputy Municipal Judge. <br /> <br />Sisk stated that with great pride the Legal Committee recommends Lawrence S. Mertes <br />as Deputy Municipal Judge. He stated that Mertes was previously with the District <br />Attorneys office and is now in private practice. <br /> <br />MOTION: Sisk moved that Council appoint Larry Mertes as Deputy Municipal Judge, <br />for a period that would end in January of 2002, seconded by Brown. <br /> <br />Mayer thanked the Legal Committee for the hard work in the evaluation and selection of <br />Municipal Judge and Deputy Municipal Judge. <br /> <br />VOTE: All in favor. Levihn excused. <br /> <br />Municipal Judge W. Bruce Joss swore Lawrence S. Mertes to the office of Deputy <br />Municipal Judge. <br /> <br />Deputy Municipal Judge Larry Mertes thanked the Council for the appointment and the <br />opportunity to work with Judge Joss. He stated that he is interested in working in the <br />schools in Louisville. He noted that he has been active with the Boulder County Bar <br />Association in the Lawyer/Classroom program and that he would make himself available <br />to teachers, principals and the student body. Mertes introduced his family to the Council. <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons reported that the Legal Committee would meet to fill the <br />vacancy of the Prosecuting Attorney. He noted that the application deadline is November <br />21, 2001. He stated that at this time, two applications have been received. <br /> <br />2002 PROPOSED BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />Davidson called for Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Finance Director Dianne Ray presented the proposed 2002 Budget.
