Open Space Advisory Board
Agenda
January 9th 2013
a. Ember shared a map depicting the locations of current Rules and
Regulation signs. The Wayfinding CIP Project will be managed by
Allan Gill.
b. OSAB discussed and agreed to request the following:
1) Labeling the road names at major trail-road
intersections and labeling the roads names on
underpasses and
2) Creating small panels that show sections of the trail
system map (with QR code) that would be mounted to
the back of the Rules & Regulations signs and
3) Later phases to include developing smaller version
kiosks and
4) Explore partnering with other departments (Public
Works) and other jurisdictions on signage of roads
and underpasses. OSAB requests an update as
project planning begins.
X. Discussion: Brainstorming 2013 Education Program
OSAB reviewed the proposed 2013 plan and found no issues.
OSAB discussed adding sessions lead by or organized by board members. Tom
could potentially give a talk on geology or Coal Creek. Ember and Linda floated
the idea of a group book session on a relevant book. Missy suggested adding a
“Where does your water come from?” or a “Forest to Faucet” Program from the
National Forest Service. Ember commented that they would be hosting a “Get to
know your H20” program which would cover some of the desired information.
Tom suggested individual property tours.
Ember asked OSAB if they would like to participate in the “Open Space Open
House” program in 2013 (similar to what was done at the “Touch a Truck” event
in 2012). Overall OSAB agreed to participating again in 2013 and adding an
activity (game, sensory session, etc.) to engage children and give parents time to
read the posters and ask question.
XI. Discussion: Draft 2012 OSAB Accomplishments
Suggestions and edits shared with Ember included:
Slide 1- Reverse the priority on the two sub points. Add language that “Staff and
board members hosted” the Open Space Open House.
Slide 2- Update sub title. Change “parking lot” to “trailhead”. Add that public
input was received on a monthly basis at board meetings.
Slide 4- Add the Overlook Underpass project.
Slide 6- Change “Assist” to “Advocate”.
4
