City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />September 4, 2007 <br />Page 3 of 15 <br />• Ward III Meeting -Thursday, September 20, at 7:00 a.m., at the Coal <br />Creek Golf Course Clubhouse. <br />• US 36 Draft Environmental Impact Statement Meeting -Thursday, <br />September 6 from 4:OG to 6:00 p.m., at the East Boulder Community <br />Center in Boulder. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br />City Manager Fleming reported on the following: <br />• Two successful meetings with the Land Management and Recreation <br />Center staff. He voiced his appreciation to former Recreation and Senior <br />Services Director Keith Williams for his exemplary work. He reported on <br />his decision to combinE: the Land Management and the Recreation and <br />Senior Services departments and appoint Scott Robson as Director of the <br />two departments. <br />• Kevin Watson accepted the City's offer to be the new Finance Director <br />and will begin on Octok~er 1. Acting Finance Director Alan Miller will <br />continue to assist the City in the interim. <br />• The City will participatE: in the Climate Smart Campaign, which is an <br />education campaign requesting residents reduce their carbon usage. The <br />City will partner with v2~rious other municipalities in the County. <br />• McKesson Corporations will consolidate its Louisville and Broomfield <br />offices into new office space in Westminster. Security with Advanced <br />Technology will relocate its operations to Louisville. It will occupy 20,000 <br />SF and employ 50 people. <br />• A Search Engine has k;,een installed on the City's Web site. <br />• An Open House to must the new City Manager and preview City Hall <br />Renovations is scheduled for September 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the <br />City Council Chambers. <br />• He met with Superior Town Manager Scott Randall on cooperative funding <br />and with Boulder County Commissioner Ben Pearlman on mutual areas of <br />interest. <br />Assistant City Manager Balser announced the following scheduled workshops to <br />discuss Environmental Evaluation of Commuter Rail Technology: <br />• Wednesday, September 19 -Renaissance Suites at Flatiron, Broomfield <br />• Thursday, September 20, Highlands Masonic Center, Denver <br />• Monday, September 2~~, Celestial Seasonings, Boulder. <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br />UPDATE -LOUISVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL (LMS) DESIGN <br />
