City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />September 4, 2007 <br />Page 4 of 15 <br />Principal Adam Fels from the Louisville Middle School provided information on <br />the upcoming Louisville Middle School Capital Improvement Project. He <br />introduced Don Orr who will oversee all the school improvements proposed in the <br />bond proposal. He described how the Design Advisory Team was formed to <br />include the principal, teachers;, parents, students and clerical staff. He updated <br />Council on the design process and invited the Mayor, City Council and the public <br />to attend an open house at Louisville Middle School on Tuesday, September 18, <br />at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. Members of the Design Advisory Team will attend <br />the open house, along with representatives from Slaterpaull Architects and <br />Adolfson & Peterson Construction. He presented an overview of the Louisville <br />Middle School Improvement Project: <br />• September 18, 2007 -Presentation/Open House to Louisville Community <br />• October/November 2007 -Pre construction planning <br />• January -May 2008 -Physical plant preparation <br />• June 1, 2008 -Construction begins <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br />Council member Muckle voicE~d his desire to see the drawings and stated there is <br />support for keeping the Louisville Middle School's historic facade. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Annie Hughes, 1405 Garfield Court, Louisville, CO supported green building and <br />recycling building materials. C-on Orr thanked the citizens of Louisville for <br />supporting the bond issue. Hie noted the building will follow the Leeds criteria. <br />Destructed materials will be rE;used or recycled. <br />Deborah Fahey, 1118 W. Enclave Circle, Louisville, CO voiced her concern over <br />the materials containing asbestos and for the students attending classes during <br />the remodel. Orr explained a mitigation plan will be put together prior to any <br />destruction of the building. <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION -BUSINESS ASSISTANCE PROJECT ON <br />PROJECT DELTA <br />Becky Hogan, EDge Consulting, 52 Steele Street, Denver, CO reported a <br />business has expressed an interest in expanding in Louisville. The company <br />provides consultative and distribution services within the pharmaceutical industry <br />for non-personal promotion needs. Assistance is based upon retention of a <br />quality business and utilizatioin of existing new space. The total package is <br />$18,613, based on 50% rebal:e of permit fees and 50% of commercial use tax. <br />
