An
interdisciplinary Technical Advisory Committee composed of
City staff met bi-monthly with the consultant team to identify
resources, opportunities, and constraints. One Planning
Commission study session and two joint Planning
Commission/City Council study sessions were held at
milestones in the process.
The City hosted a web page featuring the project schedule,
upcoming events, contact information, and downloadable
studies and works-in-progress. A Public Open House was held
in June 2004, attended by over 70 residents. The public was
notified of all public workshops via the project website, mailings,
cable T.V. and the newspaper. The purpose of the first meeting
was to listen to the concerns of residents regarding the current
trends, issues, vision, and principles developed to date by the
Technical Advisory Committee and consulting team. Residents
also identified seven opportunity areas, or Areas of Change,
throughout the City which represent areas in which the vision
could most easily be achieved (see Figure 3).
January 25th, Study Session Draft
