CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION ~ 1.10
Phase 2
Based on the community vision and planning principles,
residents helped develop multiple future growth alternatives for
each Area of Change. After residents identified seven Areas of
Change in the first public meeting, each Area was inventoried,
possible land use programs were explored, and conceptual
options were formulated. Two to five options (a default "build-
out under current zoning" option and 1-4 additional options)
were developed for each of the seven Areas and presented at
Public Workshop #2 in September 2004. The conceptual
options displayed the range of choices that needed to be made
for each Area. During the workshop, attendees provided input
on the range of alternatives
Phase 3
Following Workshop #2, the refined options were placed into two
City-wide Alternatives and were evaluated against quantitative
(i.e., quality of life indicators) and qualitative criteria (i.e.,
planning principles) to determine the most preferable
components. A third Public Workshop in November 2004
(65 attendees) was held to present the two alternatives, the
results of the alternative analysis, and to construct a preferred
Future Land Use Map. During the workshop, the community
worked in small groups to refine the preferred alternative. The
Alternatives and their evaluation are not included in this
document but were made available through public meetings and
the City website, and are on-file in the Planning Department.
The result is Chapter 3, which represents the results from the
collaborative efforts of the community, public and private
organizations, the TAC, City Council, Planning Commission and
City staff.
HOW TO USE THIS PLAN (CITY)
In order to be responsive to changes in the community, this Plan
should be subject to regular reviews and amendments as
conditions evolved as described in the following section. The
Louisville Municipal Code provides a procedure for amending
and updating the Comprehensive Plan (Section 17.64). All plan
amendments must be completed according to procedures
established in the Ordinance and presented in this section.
Comprehensive Update Procedure
A review of the Comprehensive Plan shall occur at least every
two years to update the Community Vision and Principles and
January 25th, Study Session Uraft
