<br />Horticulture & Forestry <br />Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />Thursday, February 7, 2013 <br />Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br /> 7:00 <br />PM <br />I.Call to Order—Chair Mike Frontczak called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. <br />II.Roll call—Board members present: Shelly Alm, Mike Frontczak, Neal Griggsmiller, <br />Eric Gustafson, Mark Newland, Ellen Toon, Beverlee White. Board member absent: <br />Theresa Rounds. Staff member present: Dean Johnson. City Council member present: <br />Susan Loo. Guest: Barb Newland. <br />III.The agenda was approved by all members. <br />IV.The minutes from the January 10, 2013 meeting were approved. <br />V.Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda—No public present. Dean presented the <br />construction plans for the North End Phase II development. The plans include the <br />planting plan for the entrance at South Boulder Road (east of King Soopers) as well as <br />the medians east of Highway 42. The plans are available for review at the Parks <br />Administration office of Allan Gill. <br />VI.Development of HFAB policy goals and/or projects for 2014 (list to Meredyth Muth by <br />March 1)—Susan and Dean explained that goals and projects submitted by Council, the <br />city manager, and the City boards and commissions must be presented early in order to <br />be considered in the budget process. Members discussed several goals and projects, <br />and agreed on the following (in order of importance): 1) Restrooms at Arboretum; 2) <br />Arboretum sign on Via Appia; 3) Xeric garden renovation; 4) Brick memorial <br />walkway; 5) Multi-purpose sports field east of Arboretum. <br />VII.Review of 2014 HFAB-related proposed Capital Improvement Projects—Discussion of <br />priorities for Arboretum-related projects (see item VI).
