Survey Work <br />HPC worked on two surveys in 2012: the Jefferson Place survey, which should <br />be complete by April 2013, and the Reconnaissance Survey of Old Town, which <br />should be complete by July 2013. <br /> <br />6. Historic Structure Assessments <br />HPC is conducting a historic structure assessment for the Austin-Niehoff House <br />(717 Main Street – the Parks and Recreation Department offices) which should <br />be complete early this year. HPC also gave grants for assessments of four <br />landmarked residential properties: 1021 Jefferson, 700 Lincoln, 1005 Lafarge, <br />and 733 Pine. <br /> <br />7. CLG Grants <br />HPC has received five state grants since its inception, including three last year. <br />Grants paid for portions of the work on the Jefferson Place and Reconnaissance <br />surveys and the Austin-Niehoff assessment, as well as covering expenses for <br />two HPC members and two staff to attend the National Alliance of Preservation <br />Commissions Forum 2012 in Norfolk, Virginia. <br /> <br />CLG Grants Amount Status <br />NAPC Forum 2012 $6,500.00 Attended <br />Reconnaissance Survey $12,786.00 Underway <br />NAPC Forum 2008 $1,450.00 Attended <br /> SHF Grants Jefferson Place $21,000.00 Underway <br />Austin-Niehoff HSA $7,400.00 Underway <br /> Total $49,136.00 <br />8. Outreach <br />HPC has taken several steps to improve outreach in 2012. The Commission <br />held a joint study session with the Louisville Revitalization Commission in <br />October to improve coordination and collaboration, and made various <br />presentations to other groups. It has also been involved in the 2012 <br />Comprehensive Plan update, to ensure preservation goals are adequately <br />represented. In addition, HPC has ordered plaques to designate landmarked <br />houses and added a map to the HPC website showing the locations of <br />landmarked structures. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />3
