Close Advisory Board Meeting VII.Meeting as Fundraising Board for the Historical Museum . A. Treasurer’s Budget: Dave Ferguson presented the following report for January 2013: Previous Balance $ 11,007.23 Expenses $ 990.52 Receipts $ 4,266.00 CD $ 25,178.41 Savings $ 20,113.65 Checking $ 14,282.71 Total $ 59,574.77 The Commission approved the Treasurer’s report. B. Foundation Subcommittee Report: (Members include Bridget Bacon, Dan Mellish, Lynn Koglin, Gladys Levis-Pilz, and Jennifer Strand) The Subcommittee has started to discuss a possible timeline and deadline for creating the separate Foundation. Bridget Bacon stated that she will write to the City attorney about the legal steps that need to be taken. The Subcommittee plans to propose that foundation money can be spent on local historical projects that are not necessarily projects of the Museum. The draft of the Foundation By-Laws is almost complete and will be prepared for the full Commission to read. Subcommittee members would like to promote the idea of Louisville citizens making a bequest in their wills/estate plans for the Museum. This idea will be promoted in membership information and the Louisville Historian.The general consensus is that this is a good idea that can start to be worked on.The next meeting of the Subcommittee will be Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:30AM in the Boardroom of the Library. C. Membership, Fundraising and Events: Bridget Bacon included the membership report with the meeting packet and directed members’ attention to it. Lynn Koglin completed the application for the LHC to have a booth at the first Street Faire to be held on June 14, 2013, as the Downtown Business Assn. has generally offered to let the Commission have a booth for one night at no charge. The Commission discussed what to include in the booth: membership information and forms, pamphlets, sale items (e.g., postcards), coal candy, and a coal miner’s bucket for donations. Gladys Levis-Pilz will research available options for buying coal candy. D. Discussion/Approval of projects and expenses 1. The project to design a Business Sponsorship flyer for distribution to Chamber of Commerce members has a March 20 deadline.
