Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 4, 2013 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />RTD FasTracks Northwest Rail Line, RTD FasTracks, US36 BRT, and RTD FasTracks Talking points <br />re North Metro Project Unsolicited Proposal information sheets were distributed to all present. Sisk sees <br />a challenge in getting Directors to not think parochially, but for the RTD System as a whole. <br />PROPERTY TAX COMPARISON: <br /> Aaron DeJong, Economic Development Manager discussed the <br />BRaD committee request for a discussion on comparative property tax rates/bills for businesses and the <br />impact a debt issuance could have on those rates. These figures do not include District Assessments. It <br />was suggested that a blended tax be looked at also. <br />RETENTION MEETINGS <br />Wedgewood Kitchens - <br />Pieper and Peter Wycoff are the owners of this business. Their business is custom <br />cabinets with a fabrication shop employing 7-8 people. They are always looking for <br />projects to keep their employees busy. They mentioned the lack of food service <br />establishments in the area and limited parking for employees. <br />Bounce-io <br />Scott Brown is the owner of this business, and it started in November. They acquire <br />websites that have gone dormant, and send advertising to persons searching the sites. <br />They like having access to free parking <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEFING <br />Grain Elevator- <br /> Aaron reported 2 RFP’s were received.The projected schedule: the review <br />th <br />team will be forming a recommendation that will go the HPC meeting on March 18, presented <br />nd <br />to City Council on April 2, with a development agreement with the selected applicant projected <br />to be signed in April or May. <br />Phillips 66- <br /> The property realtor is CBRE and staff has received several inquiries to date. <br />Pearl iZumi: <br /> Grading has started and building permits have been pulled <br />Alfalfas: <br /> PUD will be considered by the Planning Commission in March and City Council in <br />May. <br />Tennis Center: <br /> PUD has been approved. More money is needed to proceed. <br />Steel Ranch South: <br /> Apartments have foundations poured and the first 16 townhome <br />foundations are being poured. Models are expected in the next few months. <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING <br />Michael Menaker suggested a Customer Service Survey to evaluate city process services. <br />Survey recent developments for their input on processes. <br />Revisit the Food Service issue with the property owner group. <br />ADJOURN – <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:36a.m. <br />3 <br />
