Director's Report
A. 2012 Statistics
Beth reported the following:
• Total circulation was up 4%over 2011 and attendance was up 5%.
• Most other use measures have also increased including downloadable materials,
electronic resources, and visits to the Library website.
• Quantifying wireless use is still problematic, but the Library is working with IT and
the service provider to find a solution. Regular observation indicates that wireless
use is up throughout the Library.
• Even though the number of programs decreased slightly, program attendance is up
significantly. Some of this is due to including parents/caregivers as attendees for
children's story time programs.
• In most years, Louisville has been a net borrower in the Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
system. In 2012, Louisville was a net lender.
• The number of volunteer hours was down slightly, as some longtime volunteers had
health problems and were out for significant amounts of time.
B. Public Services Manager Recruitment
Beth reported that Becky Campbell, from Pikes Peak Library District, has accepted the
position and will begin sometime in February.
C. Customer Service Survey
Last year, as part of the Library's customer service training initiative, a five-question
survey was administered in-house. The Library received excellent marks. As a follow-up,
the Library will administer another short survey in March. In addition to the same
questions from last year, four questions will be added related to programming and the
Automated Materials Handling (AMH)system.
