Open Space Advisory Board Meeting Notes September 11th, 2013 Page 3 of 4 VI. Board Updates: • Ember is going to check to see if the settings have been changed on the Facebook account. Alison noted some trouble posting a link. • Tom said that he's heard complaints about the low levels of water in the Warembourg Fishing Pond. o Ember reports that the seasonal employee has helped greatly by cleaning the pond. The pond's water levels have now been restored. • Ember is hoping to start the process of increasing the amount of irrigation — particularly in the area of new plantings — in order to improve the survival and support native plant populations during establishment. VII. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda • Vithal Patel, 966 St. Andrews Lane: o Mr. Patel is concerned about the maintenance (or lack thereof) on the right of way near his property. He says that in this area, the land has not been maintained, as no mowing has occurred for the last 5 years. o Mr. Patel has mowed his allowed 10' strip, but he noted that his neighbors have not. He is concerned that this has left his property vulnerable to fire. o He stated that he has discussed the issue with his neighbors, and they agree that there are a number concerns related to the level of maintenance occurring on the land in their area. o Mr. Patel and his neighbors have additionally requested that additionally trees be planted along Dillon Rd. in order to help block road noise. o Ember will include Mr. Patel's letter and photos in the minutes and scan and send the information to the appropriate people since this land is not classified as Open Space. VIII. Discussion: New Trials Open House • Ember has drafted a memo and a power point for OSAB's use. • Citizens may mark on a large map, or they can write a description on the trail recommendation forms. • OSAB members who have volunteered to give presentations or host the open house should pick up the presentation packet from Ember at the White House during regular business hours. • OSAB thinks it is important to set a deadline. The public process will end in December 2013. IX. Discussion: Harper Lake Kiosk Topics / Themes 4
