Louisville Center for the Arts Use Policy (1017113 Discussion Draft Proposed) <br />The Louisville Center for the Arts (LCA) is designated as a community facility dedicated <br />to the advancement and preservation of art, music, theater, dance, zoology, botany, <br />natural history, and cultural history in the City of Louisville and shall be used for such art <br />and cultural programs /events beneficial to the citizens of Louisville and its visitors. <br />The scheduling and coordination of building uses shall be overseen by a governing <br />board, appointed by the MayorLouisville Cultural Council (LCC) and comprising four <br />citizens representing the Louisville Cultural CouncitLCC, the Louisville Art Association, <br />Coal Creek Theater of Louisville and CenterStage Theatre Company_ (referred to as the <br />resident arts organizations). <br />To accommodate the interests of longer term planning, the governing board will meet in <br />August of each year to identify dates for multi -day events and for regular Cultural <br />Council events for the upcoming year. At this time, the governing board will also identify <br />a block of time in the upcoming year to be reserved for annual maintenance and /or <br />major repairs. The governing board will adopt a final calendar of multi -day events and <br />regular Cultural Council events no later than October 1st of each year. <br />To accommodate the interests of flexibility, and in particular coordinating with the cycle <br />of turnover for the Cultural Council, the Cultural Council may reserve up to 20 prime <br />days of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Those prime days not selected by the Cultural <br />Council will be offered for advance reservation <br />weeks in advance beginning October 2nd, <br />public rental shall be available only to Louisville residents. <br />The guiding principles for the governing body will be: <br />• to maximize and prioritize availability for events open to the public (as opposed to <br />rehearsal times, social events, or closed meetings); <br />• to ensure that resident arts organizations have generally equal access to use of the <br />facility; <br />• to minimize the effects of overlapping uses on each of the user groups. <br />The governing board will prepare and post a storage plan so that all building users will <br />understand where items are to be stored at the end of each use. <br />The City of Louisville will provide routine cleaning and maintenance to include: <br />• the facility interior and exterior, including annual painting; <br />
