L <br />qty , '+ CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />Louisville AGENDA ITEM 111 <br />COLORA[)O•SIN'( N <br />SUBJECT: <br />UPDATE /DISCUSSION — GOLF COURSE ADVISORY BOARD <br />(GCAB) <br />DATE: AUGUST 27, 2013 <br />PRESENTED BY: JOE STEVENS, PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br />AND KEN GAMBON, GCAB CHAIR <br />SUMMARY: <br />The Golf Course Advisory Board (GCAB) continues to work with the golfing community, <br />Western Golf Properties and City staff to implement Golf Course Improvement Plans <br />and share observations and make recommendations that will encourage best practices <br />at Coal Creek Golf Course. <br />With adoption of the Golf Course Improvement Plan and funding for Phase I, the City <br />has: <br />• Completed Phase I and Phase II Tree Removal /Trimming and Planting. <br />• Purchased three - hundred irrigation heads and initiated a replacement program. <br />• Completed GPS mapping of the golf course. <br />• Completed plans, specifications, and installation of a booster pump. <br />• The City completed its Title II Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) audit and <br />transition plan for Parks and Recreation facilities. GCAB, City staff, Western Golf <br />Properties, worked with a local architect to detail deficiencies in 2012/13, <br />completing ADA building accessibility, accessibility to hole #1, restroom <br />accessibility, pro -shop and restroom counter height accessibility, and some <br />deficiencies and maintenance issues in the clubhouse, holding an open house on <br />June 7th <br />• A number of issues were identified following an unusual spring with the GCAB <br />working with golfers, Western Golf Properties and City staff to address. <br />• In September 2013, it is anticipated that sand bunker renovation on holes 2 <br />through 5 will begin. <br />• On November 2nd, Coal Creek Golf Course will serve as the venue for the Pac 12 <br />Cross Country Championships hosted by the University of Colorado. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />At the present time, there are no fiscal impacts associated with this report to City <br />Council. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />The GCAB report is provided to City Council as an update to share information and to <br />facilitate discussion. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />6 <br />
