City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 16, 2013 <br />Page 12 of 25 <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Council member Loo asked why staff is advertising their desire to purchase land at <br />CTC. Capital Project Manager Trettin stated they are looking at other parcels in CTC. <br />Council member Jasiak visited the City Shop Building and felt it is a very dangerous <br />building. She would have preferred to know about the potential of a new site earlier. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton inquired about the delay time in looking at another site. City <br />Manager Fleming stated there are commitments for other projects. He asked if there <br />was any willingness on Council to explore another site. <br />Council member Loo stated projects cost escalates and she would rather know the cost <br />projections now. City Manager Fleming stated staff has done their best on the <br />information available. They did not anticipate the stormwater issues. <br />Council member Loo voiced her concern that the cost of land at CTC would increase <br />once the City expressed a desire to purchase a site.She asked for the bottom line on <br />the price of the structure. Capital Project Manager Tretten reviewed the comparisons of <br />the existing facility with other newly constructed facilities in Parker, Golden and Erie. <br /> Mayor Muckle did not support spending tax payers money on a site without flexibility <br />nor potential for expansion. He supported looking at other sites. Council member <br />Yarnell also supported looking at another site. <br />Council member Keany stated this facility has been on the CIP Project calendar for over <br />12 years. He supported looking at another site and stated the <br />would be to find funding. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Steve Hite, Operation Manager, expressed his concern over the current site. He stated <br />it is a constrained site, which could be dangerous. He felt the site is becoming smaller <br />and smaller. He did not want to see a nice building on a bad site. <br />Dean Johnson, Parks Superintendent, voiced concern over the lack of work space; <br />safety issues and equipment flow patterns. He concurred with Mr. Hcomments. <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton supported pursuing a new site. <br />Council member Sackett did not support looking at aCTC commercial site, which brings <br />jobs to the City. He suggested the staff look at other sites. <br />43 <br />
