City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 2, 2013 <br />Page 13 of 25 <br />Public Works Director Kowar stated a new facility will have new technology, which will <br />allow the City crews to work smarter. The new facility will not be on the high end, in <br />fact, in some cases the square footage of the main building, which will house <br />employees has been reduced, and out buildings have been created for equipment <br />storage at a lower cost per square foot. He explained staff is struggling to find the final <br />number and layout and feels the urgency of getting the project completed. <br />Mayor Muckle agreed and stated there was value in the ability to expand the <br />wastewater plant in the future. Council member Jasiak commended staff for bringing <br />this forward. <br />SUMMARY: The Mayor and City Council supported looking at another location.City <br />Manager Fleming thanked Council for their direction. <br />ORDINANCE No. 1634, SERIES 2013 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER <br />17.14 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO ALLOW FOR DUPLEXES IN THE <br />MIXED-USE RESIDENTIAL (MU-R) ZONE DISTRICT AND TO MODIFY THE LAND <br />ND <br />USE PLAN INCORPORATE.- 2 READING PUBLIC HEARING <br />Mayor Muckle requested a City Attorney introduction. <br />City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1634, Series 2013, and noted it was the second <br />reading of the ordinance and scheduled for public hearing. <br />Mayor Muckle opened the public hearing and requested a staff presentation. <br />Planner I Robinson explained the applicant, BVZ Architects, submitted a plan to develop <br />the Coal Creek Station property as a mixed use project. The property is 10.97 acres at <br />the corner of South Boulder Road and Highway 42.The City Council approved a <br />preliminary plat and preliminary planned unit development (PUD) for a proposed <br />development of 34,335 square feet of commercial space and 51 residential units on July <br />2, 2013. As part of the development, the applicant is requesting two modifications to <br />the Louisville Municipal Code (LMC) to allow duplexes in the Mixed-Use Residential <br />(MU-R) zone district and to modify the land use plan. <br />Ordinance No. 1634, Series 2013 amends Chapter 17.14 of the Louisville Municipal <br />Code to allow for duplexes in the mixed-use residential (MU-R) Zone District and modify <br />Staff recommended City Council <br />approve Ordinance No. 1634, Series 2013 on second reading, approving the following <br />two changes to Chapter 17.14 of the LMC: <br />network and better sited land uses <br /> Removing the prohibition on duplexes in the MU-R district north of Little Italy only <br />44 <br />
