Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
October 21, 2013

Stewart recommended a short look back of maybe 5 years, including a verification
process for receipts.
Watson recommended 4 years and it should be the same owner. He added the
average person owns a house for 7 years.
La Grave stated 4 to 5 years would be his recommendation.
Watson stated we also might want to consider a partial credit and not 100%, primarily
because the owner chose to spend the money ahead of time.
Stewart asked staff to make the modifications and bring this item back to the next
meeting.
Discussion Open Space Advisory Board/Presentation
Open Space Advisory Board, Allison Gorsevski. She presented in regards to potential
new trails, but stated the Open Space Advisory Board does not have purview over all
trails in the City of Louisville. She stated the goal is to increase awareness of the
current trails the City of Louisville has to connect important areas of town, such as
McCaslin and Downtown, together. Ideally the trails will be designed to keep more cars
off the roads. She went into details as to what different types of trails exist in town. She
then brought out a hard copy map and stated she would like the board to come down
and add trails where they might want to see trails.
Stewart stated he was hoping future trails could be respective of the cultural resources
and make sure, whenever possible, to have the trails celebrate the cultural and historic
uses they pass by.
Allison stated the City is currently going through a wayfinding process, so we can
consider this being part of the wayfinding program.
Stewart stated there will be a 5 minutes break to look at the map.
Discussion Annual Goals and Budget
Stewart recommended pushing this item to the end of the agenda to let the owners of
the Grain Elevator make their presentation.
Discussion Grain Elevator
McCartney stated he was invited to tour the Grain Elevator and was amazed at how
good the structure looked since they removed the debris. He stated the flooring and
walls almost looked brand new.
Erik Hartronft presented from a PowerPoint. He gave details of their progress to date
and what their next steps would be. He showed photos of what the interior looked like
before cleaning and showed what it looks like now. He stated there are certain retrofits
which need to take place prior to opening this building to the public. They are hoping to
open this building to tours. He added there was also grain left in the bins.
