Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
1/2/14
Bike Safety decals- decided to switch focus for the year to the Carpool
challenge. No further discussion on this topic.

High School Carpool Challenge-
th
Looking at April 29 as the official date
Mandy- as we get closer to the date, will probably need to form
subcommittee and have more meetings because there will be a LOT to do
Prizes- Joi thought we could ask our partner clubs for suggestions and help
to work on this.
Raffle- Karen thinks it could be really complicated- will the winners only be
drawn from the winning school? Then the other school has useless
tickets?
What about giving everyone a sticker for participating?
Mandy- do you need to have a license to run a raffle?
Mitchell- if we did gift cards and no one wanted to donate, could we buy
some? Mandy- no, it would not be fair to pick one business over
another.
Eliza- how are we going to tell who is participating?
Kriska- need to be sure to recognize the people that did not drive- ideally they will

Joi- perhaps we could set up tables at the school entrances?
Karen- should we even call it the carpool challenge if we want people to walk or
bike?
Joi- remind everyone via email to come up with a name or slogan for the next
meeting
Joi- will work on a list of clubs and meeting times to attend to ask for assistance
st
Eliza- one group meets on the 1 Friday of every month
Joi- the high school YAB members should talk to the school clubs to see if they
are interested before scheduling a final YAB presentation- then send that
info to Mandy
Karen- where will the stickers come from? Joi- figured we could design and print
our own.
Action Items:
Finalize the date
Survey slips- Eliza will work on this
Everyone- come up with a name and/or slogan for next meeting

Monthly Volunteer Projects-
th
January: Soup Kitchen on Thursday, Jan. 16 @ 5pm. First Methodist
th
Church, 14 and Spruce in Boulder. Wear your red YAB shirts, long
pants, and long hair must be tied back or covered with a hat.
th
February: Royal Ball on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 2-5pm.
