Cityr
IU Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
• Curving the new tee boxes makes our driving range safer. Kevin Norby
stated that the last target green is approximately 250 yards from the middle of
the tee. The Board discussed alternatives such as using short -flight golf balls
but this was rejected as not being acceptable to users. If a problem persists,
we may need to consider adding netting at the end of the range.
• Dennis stated that he appreciates value of the new forward tees.
• Sandy expressed his thanks to Lisa for covering the Minutes prior to his
belated arrival. Sandy emphasized the need to stay focused on scrubbing a
plan for presentation to City Council at their Feb 4 Meeting. The Board, LU
and Norby agreed that we should be able to have the plan and costing
options available for the Jan 27 Board meeting. Sandy stated his five value
engineering items — 1) Moving Cart Path on #1, 2) Moving Cart Path on #4, 3)
The Fountain on #8, 4) Moving practice tee and 5) The potential extra cost in
running facilities to the proposed Bathroom by tee #15.
• Kevin Norby proposed the bathroom and storm shelter might be a combined
structure with a good - quality, handicap accessible PortaPotty type bathroom.
This proposal was acceptable to the Board. No cost estimate was provided
but the Board believes it could be funded within the $50K estimate in the RFP
response.
• Kevin Norby shared proposals for value engineering items — 1) eliminating the
target greens on driving range is his preference to moving the cart paths, 2)
Using sod vs. seed wherever possible, should provide significant cost savings
at the expense of grow -in time and still being capable of meeting schedule 3)
eliminating curbing on the widened cart paths 4) minimizing sod on bunker
faces and around the driving range..
• Heikke inquired about the greens. Jeff Cordes replied "we are in the process
of due diligence on this item. Core samples have been sent out for evaluation
• Tom asked about the planned change to the cart path on hole #4. Kevin
stated that the thought process on this hole is to open up the right side of the
fairway.
• Kevin Norby brought up the elimination of bunker liners. Liners are currently
not in the bid and he and LU are completely comfortable with this decision.
Revised maintenance training and practices should provide a good and
lasting result without needing liners.
• LU stated that it was essential that the new irrigation system be complete and
workable before grass seeding can take place.
• FEMA and their program options were discussed along with the schedule of
expectations. Joe Stevens expects a decision on the FEMA program before
the Feb 4 Council meeting,
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335-4735 FAX (303) 335-.738
www.Iou isvil leco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS
GOLF
9
