ORDINANCE NO. 1047 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PORTIONS OF CHAPTER 5.16 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO MASSAGE PARLORS WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Louisville has determined that it is necessary and appropriate to amend certain provisions in Chapter 5.16 of the Louisville Municipal Code; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: section 1. Sections 5.16.010 through 5.16.110, and 5.16.130 of the Louisville Municipal Code are hereby amended, to read as follows (words to be deleted are stricken through; words in capital letters are to be added): BUSINESS LICENSES AND REGULATION 5.16.010 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the words set out in this section shall have the following meanings unless the context indicates otherwise: A. "Massage" means pressure upon or friction against, or stroking, rubbing, kneading, or other manipulation of the body by means, with or without apparatus, including but not limited to vibrators, infrared heat, sun lamps, and external baths. B. "Massage parlor" or "lfassage establishment" means an establishment or place of business where any person, association, firm, or corporation engages in, conducts, PROVIDES or carries on, or permits to be engaged, conducted, PROVIDED or carried on any busineso of manipulation of the body by any mcans of massage. C. "Massage therapist" means any person twenty-one years of age or older who has graduated from a ~cognized MASSAGE THERAPY school, as defincd in this scction, ACCREDITED BY THE STATE EDUCATIONAL BOARD OR DIVISION CHARGED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF APPROVING PRIVATE OCCUPATIONAL SCHOOLS, OR FROM A SCHOOL WITH COMPARABLE APPROVAL OR ACCREDITATION FROM ANOTHER STATE WITH TRANSCRIPTS INDICATING COMPLETION OF AT LEAST FIVE HUNDRED HOURS OF TRAINING IN MASSAGE THERAPY. \iho administers to anothcr person, for any form of conoideration or hire, a massage, alcohol bath, electric or magnetic lRasoage procedure, manipulation of thc body, or other similar procedure. IF THE SCHOOL IS LOCATED IN THE STATE OF COLORADO, IT MUST MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS ESTABLISHED BY TITLE 12, ARTICLE 59, COLORADO REVISED STATUTES, OR OTHER APPLICABLE STATUTES PERTAINING TO VOCATIONAL EDUCATION. 1 lo-'\ --? ,.'''. ~",... . ..-""'~'. .")
