Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 10, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 11 <br />Motion was approved by voice vote. <br />Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda <br />None heard. <br />Pre filing Conference – <br />Robinson stated Josh Karp is not here to speak about his item and asked for the item to <br />be continued. <br />PUBLIC HEARING – Demolition Request – 1013 Front Street <br />Robinson presented the information provided in the packet. He stated the applicant is <br />requesting to remove some of the existing materials, such as windows, which would make the <br />house more livable. He stated the windows are not original to the house, but they are of <br />similar design. <br />Fahey asked why the posts on the front of the house are being recommended to be different <br />from the 1948 image. <br />Robinson stated the proposed posts are round where the original are square. <br />Fahey then inquired about the roof change. <br />Robinson gave detail regarding the design modifications. <br />Applicant Presentation <br />Joan Maxfield, owner, and Josh Feaster, architect, spoke. <br />Maxfield stated she wanted to add more living space without changing the footprint. The front <br />porch would allow them to enjoy the street activity more. She stated she liked the dormer <br />detail because it added character to the house. She added the basement needs to be <br />structurally improved. <br />Feaster states the porch is detaching from the house and believes the porch is not original to <br />the house. He stated he is pleased the owners want to keep the house. <br />Stewart asked where the dormer windows lead to. <br />Feaster stated the attic. <br />Stewart asked what happens to the driveway in the front. <br />Feaster stated the driveway will remain. <br />Stewart asked if the proposed windows match the historical windows. <br />
