Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 10, 2014 <br />Page 5 of 11 <br />Robinson presented the items from the packet. He stated this property is currently under <br />review for w PUD and Plat for 6 single family residences. He stated the property is currently <br />vacant, but has a concrete cap over where the Acme Mine entrance was located. <br />Watson asked the applicant to make a presentation. <br />Stewart asked if this was a pre-filing conference. <br />Robinson stated it was mainly a discussion. <br />Mark Bush presented as the applicant and property owner. He gave background of their due <br />diligence, including a study from Western Environmental. He stated there is limited <br />undermining on this property because mining companies did not want to undermine where <br />their buildings were. He stated the state did a closure on the mine opening, by placing the <br />concrete cap over the opening, in 1987. He is recommending a monument be placed on the <br />property to recognize the history of this site. <br />Watson thanked the applicant for taking consideration to memorialize this property, especially <br />since there aren’t any existing structures to be preserved. <br />Stewart asked if they could designate and area where the original tipple was located. <br />Bush stated they were going to dedicate a 15’ strip along Hutchinson for the monument of this <br />area. <br />Stewart said he was excited about getting some markers to commemorate the site. <br />Fahey stated there is volunteer at the museum who is interested in looking into placing mine <br />markers throughout the city and recommended they work with him. <br />Discussion – 2014 Goals <br />Stewart stated he and Fahey worked on some ideas for the list and collaborated with Robinson <br />as well. <br />Fahey stated some items were placed under the master plan, then we broke the other items <br />into categories: <br /> Program <br /> Outreach <br /> Master Plan <br />Fahey stated this will be going to the City Council study session as well. <br />Stewart stated he wanted to put the exterior renovation of the Austin Niehoff house. <br />Watson asked Robinson what was period of significance. <br />
