Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
February 10, 2014
Haley asked if we could speak with OSAB regarding Mine Markers and maybe
partnering with them.
Preservation Month
Stewart asked if we could do a tour of the Grain Elevator for preservation month.
Robinson stated we can ask the owners to make sure the structure could be ready for
that. If we do the tour, we will probably need to sign a waiver.
Haley suggested we can create a sticker because the younger generation responds to
stickers. What if we made a Grain Elevator sticker and hand them out at the Street Fair.
The sticker should include a slogan and create a brand.
Fasick asked if we should do a windows workshop.
Stewart said we did that a few years ago and it was great.
Fasick said we should consider something like this because we have more landmarks.
We could hire the gentleman who was at the CPI conference, the director of the
mountain preservation program, goes around and gives presentations regarding
restoration.
Update on Demolition Requests
No additional comments were discussed.
Update on Alteration Certificate Requests –
None
Discussion/Comments on Planning Department Referrals –
DELO Final Plat and Final Development Plan
Robinson gave a presentation of the specifics of the DELO project.
Stewart asked what the elevation along Griffith looks like.
Robinson showed the elevations from the submittal package.
Stewart asked if they were 3 story townhomes.
Robinson answered yes, 2.5 or 3 stories.
Stewart said he did not believe this was an appropriate transition from the neighbors to
the north nor is it considered compatible, primarily based on the height and mass.
Watson said he thinks the massing is fine, but does not agree with the architecture.
