<br />Howard moved that Council approve Ordinance No. 1213, Series 1996, a request for a water line <br />easement on second and final reading. Seconded by Levihn. Roll call was taken. Motion passed by <br />a 6 - 0 vote with Keany being absent. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1215, SERIES 1996 - CONSENTING TO THE TRANSFER OF <br />CONTROL OF THE CABLE TELEVISION FRANCmSE ISSUED TO SCRIPPS HOWARD <br />CABLE COMPANY, A COLORADO CORPORATION - 2ND READING - PUBLIC <br />HEARING (PUBL. LSVL. TIMES 4/20/96) <br /> <br />Griffiths read by title only Ordinance No. 1215, Series 1996, "An ordinance consenting to the transfer <br />of control of the cable television franchise issued to Scripps Howard Cable Company, a Colorado <br />corporation. " <br /> <br />Bill Blankenship, Human Resources Officer, clarified that Comcast Corporation would be acquiring <br />E.W. Scripps Company and Scripps Howard, which is a wholly owned subsidiary, so nothing would <br />change in terms of the day-to-day operations. <br /> <br />Davidson opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Greg Griffin, General Manager for Scripps Howard Cable Company, stated that preparations are <br />being made for the History Channel to begin in Louisville on or about May 31. <br /> <br />Davidson called for Council questions. <br /> <br />Mayer asked, concerning Comcast's letter of May 2 saying that Scripps Howard will essentially <br />remain in tact, if all of the concerns of the City were addressed in the letter and the ordinance <br />proposed protected the City. <br /> <br />Susan Griffiths, City Attorney, agreed that it did. She had received an additional letter from Dick <br />Lyons, Attorney for Scripps Howard, pointing out some provisions in the form that emphasized the <br />control over the company. <br /> <br />Davidson called for anyone in the audience wishing to speak on Ordinance No. 1215. <br /> <br />NONE <br /> <br />Davidson closed the public hearing and called for Council comments or motions. <br /> <br />Sisk moved that Council approve Ordinance No. 1215, Series 1996, at second and final reading (with <br />the proviso that the History Channel be on cable May 31, 1996). Seconded by Lathrop. Roll call was <br />taken. Motion passed by a 6 - 0 vote with Keany being absent. <br /> <br />4 <br />
