City of Louisville Golf Advisory Board: Definition of Why?
Committee Member 1: Coal Creek Golf Course
Provide the best valued local golf course, meaning we want the users experience (golfers and non - golfers) to
result in a greater value than the price they paid; this should yield that Coal Creek is the best municipal golf course
within 10 miles. This includes the facilities and the golf course, but also the service the staff provides to the users.
The $5.15m investment provides a community asset that focuses on the golfing experience, but is also available
for non -golf uses that make sense for the City of Louisville residents (e.g., cross - country skiing, snow shoeing (not
on greens), sledding down 15th green (previously discussed). The summarization is a place that city residents
appreciate and have pride in even if they are non - golfers.
The golf course provides a great opportunity and experience to families and kids /teenagers desiring to play golf.
They are able to get a reduced rate, but at the same time fill -in the tee times that are less popular.
Provide a If_ --!,- +^lining operation, where the golf course operations fund itself, including planning for future
capital improvements
Based on your "Financial Performance — Municipal Golf vs. Coal Creek" slide Coal Creek GC reaches to
continually be a "Gold" level municipal golf course.
Existing club has the welcoming feel to it, so golf and non - golfers feel welcome and can find a comfortable spot
to have a bite to eat or a beverage and enjoy the views; a gathering place. This may could include a nice
reasonably priced food /beverage service for families to gather for happy hours where kids can also gather and be
entertained.
We support annual memberships and a loyalty program that are attractive to city residents and non - residents; but
that also are priced right for the course value /experience.
©2014, Golf Convergence, Inc.
15
