Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
April 21 2014

6 Staff Update
a) There has been no update to Landscape Unlimited’s original Microsoft
Project document created on Jan 28. The board does not have an
electronic copy of the schedule but a quick visual scan shows that most
tasks that should be under way or be completed are significantly behind
schedule. Joe Stevens stated that, while there were issues, he expected
that these could be recovered and the critical date of July to have the
irrigation system replaced and functional should still be possible. LU
started construction work on April 1. The Board accepted Staff’s comment
that the work with FEMA has been much more complex than expected
and contractual issues had to be worked at the expense of physical
progress. Staff also stated that while FEMA approval is still pending, there
were no FEMA issues that prevented work from starting. Staff committed
to providing the Board with an updated schedule from LU.
Chris Bradford reported that the following work had been completed:
thththth
the 14, 15, 16 and 17 greens have been stripped of sod and work
th
has started on the 18
1/3 of the irrigation heads on the last 5 holes have been lifted and
placed in storage ready for reinstallation
Due diligence on the irrigation system is under way in order to make a
complete request to FEMA for damage compensation.
Trenching for the irrigation system should start on May 15
Project Worksheets are still under preparation. Replacement of the
irrigation system will be covered by a separate worksheet with a view
to maximizing the eligibility for reimbursement.
The Board expressed concern over the schedule and expects that much
progress will be seen by the next meeting.
b) Tree work: it is expected that tree removal, pruning and root pruning will
be completed in May. This is outside the LU contract and, lacking formal
quotes, is expected to cost $15K.Per Chris Bradford , trees have been
marked as follows: Pink – dangerous trees marked for removal by Chris
Lichty, Red – trees marked for removal by Norby for playability, Green –
root pruning needed. Trees behind hole #3 green are being removed, a
dangerous tree will be removed behind green #5, trees are being removed
to improve sunlight on green #6 and root pruning will be done on trees
bordering green #5. Replacement trees will be planted in Fall of 2014/
Spring 2015 The tree plan will be updated by May 5, Norby and Chris
Lichty are working on planning and phasing. A community meeting will be

··
Parks and Recreation Department 749 Main Street Louisville, CO 80027
·
(303) 335-4735 FAX (303) 335-4738
www.louisvilleco.gov
Parks Recreation Senior Services O
Golf
