From Jim Boyer, two items he found in the wall of a house at 537 Lincoln,
including a matchbook cover and a card with the fire alarm box numbers from
the early 1900s;
10. From Bridget bacon, a copper menu cover for Colacci’s Restaurant from
circa 1959; and
11. From Tom Mudrock, family items from WWII and a 1963 Louisville High
School football (#7).
B. CU has instituted a “crowd sourcing” campaign to raise money to obtain scanned
images of archival and other items of historic interest from 1914-2014.
C. BBacon researched and wrote a report on the Acme Mine for the Planning
Department. She plans to use the information and photos for a new front window
exhibit about the Acme Mine.
D. 60 people attended Ron Buffo’s Brown Bag lunch presentation on the Hecla Mine
conflict in March; an additional 40 people participated in a driving tour of sites related
to this historic Louisville event on a Saturday in April.
E. The Open Government Meeting will be held on May 29, 2014, 6:30PM at City Hall.
All members of the LHC are due to attend except GLP and PE.
VIII. Chairperson’s Report: DM reported:
A. The LHC should select a member to sit in on LHPC meetings. The LHPC meets
the third Monday of the month at 7PM. Paula Elrod volunteered to attend LHPC
meetings, and Anne Robinson volunteered to be the back-up representative.
B. Andy Williams resigned from the LHC due to having other commitments. A
replacement will be chosen in the Fall of 2014. Until then there will be 9 members on
the LHC.
rd
C. Anne Robinson will conduct historic walking tours of Louisville on August 3 and
September 13 beginning at 9:30 AM in front of the library. The LHPC approved the printing of a brochure highlighting Louisville buildings on
the National Register of Historic Places that was developed through the Museum.
B. They have indicated that they would consider including some
interpretation relating to the Acme Mine in the project.
C. Ideas are being discussed about a Junior Preservationist program to get young
people involved in Louisville history.
D. LH gave updates on other items that have come before the LHPC recently.
E. DM asked if the LHC could see the LHPC budget for preservation projects.
