Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />May 7, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />Louisville History Foundation (LHF), which is now responsible for all monetary efforts <br />instead of the Commission. The suggestion was made for them to put a request in <br />writing and email it to Dan Mellish. <br />Randy stated that he wants to conduct group interviews with some of the older citizens <br />of Louisville who may have information to share about the history/workings of the <br />elevator. <br />There will be a “hard hat” tour and open house on Saturday, May 17, 2014 when <br />members of the public will be able to see the work that is being done. There will be <br />tours at 10:00AM and again at 2:00PM. <br />V. Approval of the March 15, 2014 LHC meeting minutes: The minutes were <br />approved. <br />VI. Report from the Director of Library & Museum Services: Beth Barrett reported: <br />A. A Needs Assessment (NA) for this year’s budget is underway. Bridget Bacon <br />(BBacon) has collected sample RFPs pursuant to finding someone to conduct the NA <br />for the new museum building. BBacon, BBarrett, and a staff member from the Public <br />Works Department will work on the RFP. Beth asked if a member of the LHC would be <br />able to help review proposals when the time comes. GLP offered but stated that she <br />will be unavailable in August and September. Anne Robinson also offered, but stated <br />that she would not be able to attend daytime meetings. <br />B. The Louisville IT department is upgrading connectivity for the Museum. <br />C. The city is to receive funds from FEMA and the State as reimbursement for flood <br />damage costs. This will enable the city to complete some of the big capital projects <br />that were put on hold after the flood. <br />D. The new police chief is Dave Hayes. He has been supportive of the efforts to <br />fund/build a police memorial in the name of Victor Helburg by the police station. <br />E. Three “little libraries” will be built – one in Superior and two in separate locations In <br />Louisville. Home Depot donated the materials and built the libraries, which are ready <br />to go up. <br />VII. Report from the Museum Coordinator: (written report also attached to agenda) <br />A. Approval of Deeds of Gifts from donors:The Commission voted to accept the <br />following 11 donations: <br />1. From Michael Dionigi, family history items relating to the Dionigi family; <br />2. From Barbara Stahr, copies of the Louisville Times and photos of oilcloth <br />mine maps; <br />3. From Eileen Manning, a copy of a photo of the Henry & Edith (Zarini) Porta <br />family; <br />4. From Marianne Porter, a service record book with photos and information <br />about WWII servicemen from Louisville; <br />5. From Gaylene Weber, baseball photos, scrapbook from the Fire Department <br />Auxillary, and other photos including those of a hose cart race from 1908 and a <br />Louisville hose team from 1920; <br />6. From Mary Colacci Guyer, Items relating to Colacci’s Restaurant including <br />matchbook covers and photos; <br />7. From Bob Bryan, three photos of William & Hazel Scran; <br />
