Library Board of Trustees <br />Meeting Minutes—DRAFT <br />May 8, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />VII.Ongoing Business <br />A.Service Projects <br />1)Little Libraries <br />Sherri asked if someone from the City could install the unit at the mobile <br />home park in Louisville; Beth will follow-up <br />Jeannie has received no response from Joe Stevens about installing a unit at <br />Community Park; Beth will follow-up <br />Martin and Eric picked up the unit to install on the private property across <br />from Founders Park in Old Town Superior <br />Responsibility for maintaining the little libraries is still unclear, but board <br />members will check on them weekly to see what’s happening <br />The Board would like to put in an item in the Community newsletter <br />mentioning the folks who built the units <br />Jeannie will be going out of town and the Library will display the two <br />remaining units here until they are picked up; Library staff will create a sign <br />to let people know that these will be installed in the community <br />2)One Book 4 Colorado <br />Jeannie and Alicia spent a couple of hours delivering books to the local <br />preschools. Beth noted her and staff’s appreciation, particularly in light of <br />staffing constraints at the time. <br />3)World Book Night: April 23, 2014 <br />The group discussed that since the weather was terrible that evening, there were <br />not many people out and about. Under the circumstances, not all the books were <br />distributed but the remainder will be given out in the next week or so. Jeannie <br />noted that she distributed her remaining books at a First Friday Art Walk. The <br />group agreed that for next year there should be an alternate date selected in case <br />of bad weather. <br />B.Community Food Share <br />Leslie reported that the food drive is going to be either the last week of May or the first <br />week of June. Beth noted that Summer Reading doesn’t start until May 31. Alicia will be <br />finalizing the date soon. <br />VIII.New Business <br />A.Presence at Farmer’s Market <br />Beth noted that the kick-off for this year’s ‘On The Same Page’ will be during Famer’s <br />Market on Saturday, June 21. Board members there will distribute the promotional rack <br />cards. The Lafayette farmer’s market is the next day and Board members will be there <br />to hand out information as well. <br />B.Marketing the Library <br />Paul suggested that we work on ways to segment and target Library users focusing on <br />benefits rather than by age groups (e.g., children, teen, and adult). One way to do this <br />is by making the community aware of everything the Library has to offer and a first <br />
