Emissions from solid waste are a result of the anaerobic breakdown of <br />biodegradable material such as food waste, grass clippings, and paper. When such items are <br />disposed of in landfills, methane emissions are produced. <br />4. Baseline Inventory Results <br />Table 3 presents the total consumption for each emitting activity in the year 2012 for the City <br />of Louisville. It presents useful, common consumption metrics which are traceable over time. <br />For example, one could compare natural gas and electricity use per household per month over <br />time to determine if households are becoming more or less energy efficient. <br />17 <br />19 <br />
