Result of our Stage 1 efforts: Goal development
After gauging the needs and interests of the various stakeholders, we should set goals. There are three main groups
to whom we may apply goals:
1. The City of Louisville government
2. The residents of Louisville
3. The businesses within Louisville
Each of these groups should have their own goals but all of the goals should work together to help for a coherent
and comprehensive approach to EE in Louisville.
Some example goals may be:
• Conform to Kyoto Protocols
• Work toward achieving all `cost effective' demand side management (DSM) within the city buildings. We
can define cost effective as anything we want. For instance, we can say that all measure with a 3 year or
less simple payback must be implemented
• Reduce usage (or GHG emissions) within the City by 20% by 2020
• Achieve "Best in Class" performance for energy efficiency in comparison to other cities in Boulder County,
Denver Metro Area, Colorado, etc.
• Other measureable goals
Stage 2: Engage community to achieve goals
Stage 1, discussed above, is to assess community needs and to set goals. Stage 2 may be to design initiatives and
programs to achieve our goals. The plan will need to focus on community engagement. Some ideas may include
• Making a good website that clearly presents our goals and the resources available to participants
• Leveraging social media
• Setting up contests and initiatives
• Working on code improvement and compliance
Tentative Project Schedule
We would need to plot out our plan before developing a detailed schedule, but here are some thoughts.
Item
Description
Due / reporting date
Analyze existing
survey information
Review LSAB survey results.
