112 Cityoj
Om Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
vaults along the plaza rather than ornamental trees in containers. Joliette and Paul will
summarize the discussion and recommendations, and send to Chris for review. They
will also talk to Alan Gill about the issues around planting trees in containers.
VII. LSAB - proposed Louisville Community Garden —Chris spoke briefly about LSAB's
proposal to build a community garden facility similar to the Kerr Community Garden at
the Harney Lastoka Open Space. City Council would like to find a location within the
city limits, and perhaps provide a water tap. HFAB members expressed their support
for the project. Chris also commented that depending on the site, fruit trees might be an
appropriate addition to the garden, and that there are grants available for obtaining fruit
trees.
VIII. Concert at Arboretum Thursday, August 28 at 6:00 pm —The Park Hill Brass Band
will perform at the Arboretum. Mike will contact Susan Honstein, chair of the
sponsoring Louisville Cultural Council, regarding arrangements for the event,
particularly whether additional portable toilets will be available (because Rec Center
will be closed for annual maintenance that week.)
IX. Discussion items for next meeting on Thursday, September 4— Arboretum fundraiser
projects; photo contest for Arboretum calendar; pruning demonstration at Arboretum on
Saturday, October 4.
X.
