<br />Approved – September 18, 2003 <br /> <br />As a matter of clarification Johnstone reminded the Commission that the Lowe’s sign is 4’8” in <br />height and was permitted to match the original Eagle sign in height as part of a broader PUD <br />Amendment application. The King Soopers sign at the opposite end of the Louisville Plaza has a <br />4’ by 8’ sign. <br /> <br />Applicant Presentation: <br />Jeff Peters, Freeman Signs Inc., 1920 W. Cornell, Englewood, CO representing Hobby Lobby <br />Stores, Inc. stated that he supports the Staff report and that the 36-inch letter height restriction is <br />acceptable with the store. He provided no additional information. <br /> <br />Commission Questions: <br />Kalish asked for clarification of the use of the term ‘second story entity’ in regards to the <br />condition. She suggested that the terms ‘tenant’ and ‘sub-tenant’ be used to distinguish the <br />difference. <br /> <br />Members of the Public: <br />McAvinew requested if anyone in the audience came to say anything either in support of or <br />against the request. None heard. <br /> <br />Staff Summary and Recommendation: <br />Staff reported they are requesting approval with three conditions. <br /> <br />Applicant Summary: <br />Applicant had no additional comments. <br /> <br />Public Hearing Closed Commission Comments: <br />McAvinew closed the public hearing and requested Commission comments. <br /> <br />Susan Loo stated that she supports the project and is pleased the see the space occupied. <br /> <br />McDermott stated that the Commission should consider a 48-inch height limit to be consistent <br />with the other retail signage that is in the Louisville Plaza. He does not support the 36-inch <br />height. <br /> <br />Chris Pritchard stated that the area needs to be consistent and would support a 48-inch letter <br />height. <br /> <br />McAvinew stated that he supports the 36-inch height but would consider the 48-inch with more <br />discussion from the other Commissioners. <br /> <br />Kalish stated that balance of signage size is an important issue for the Louisville Plaza. She <br />questioned if the 48-inch size letter would fit the storefront and commented that the 36-inch <br />height was more appropriate. <br /> <br />Robson clarified that the original request was for a 54-inch height and that the submitted <br />documents displayed a 36-inch, 48-inch and 54-inch height.
