<br />APPROVED – AUGUST 10, 2004 <br />of this property. The owners of the building have provided a “shared parking agreement” <br />document that indicates a willingness to make those spaces available for “Family Recovery <br />Centers” use during the peak afternoon and evening hours. <br /> <br />Johnstone briefly reviewed the SRU criteria and confirmed that Staff recommends approval of <br />the SRU by approving Resolution No. 18, Series 2004 with one condition. <br /> <br />Commission Questions: <br />Lipton asked for questions of staff from the Commissioners. <br /> <br />Loo asked what kind of public notice was done for the hearing. Johnstone explained that 500’ <br />requirement of property owners and that it does not include a tenant notice. <br /> <br />Applicant Presentation: <br />Lipton asked for an applicant presentation. <br /> <br />Dave Larsen, 497 Pasadena Way, Broomfield; reviewed the following points: <br />This is a follow-up Drug Rehab Program for teens and their families. <br /> <br /> <br />Will provide a location for teens in recovery to make new friends away from the drug <br /> <br /> <br />culture. <br />Reviewed the schedule as currently planned and reminded the Commissioners that the <br /> <br /> <br />majority of the planned programs are held in the evenings. <br /> <br />Commission Questions of Applicant: <br />Lipton asked for questions from Commissioners to the Applicant. <br /> <br />Lipton asked what other programs are offered in Boulder County. Larsen stated he is not aware <br />of any programs similar to what they will be offering. <br /> <br />Loo asked what kind of state license is required. Larsen explained that Colorado does not <br />require a privately funded program to be licensed. He did state that the sister program that they <br />have in Pennsylvania is required to be licensed and the program in Colorado will be following <br />the same format. <br /> <br />Pritchard asked what age group would the teens represent. Larsen stated that the teens would be <br />from 13 – 20 years and would be supported by parents who are non-drug user and in some cases <br />would be supported by grandparents. <br /> <br />Pritchard continued by asking how many in that age range will be driving. Larsen estimates that <br />40 – 50% will have cars. <br /> <br />Pritchard then ask how many of the non-drivers would be driven by parents. Larsen estimates <br />that parents will bring about 50% of the non-drivers and the others will carpool with those that <br />have cars. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
