SUBJECT: ANNUAL REPORT — LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
DATE: SEPTEMBER 9, 2014
WHAT IS YOUR BOARD'S MISSION STATEMENT AND DO YOU THINK IT NEEDS
ANY UPDATING OR CHANGING:
The Louisville Public Library's mission is to inform, involve and inspire the communities
we serve. The strategic plan we designed is easily changed as new trends and use of
libraries change.
IN WHAT AREAS DO YOU NEED CITY COUNCIL INPUT /FEEDBACK?
We are always interested in how we can partner with Superior. We also hope the
council will share with us any trends or issues that impact the library.
KNOWING THAT FUNDING IS LIMITED AND NOT ALL PROGRAMS WILL BE A
PRIORITY IN ANY GIVEN BUDGET YEAR, WHAT PROJECTS/
PROGRAMS /POSITIONS ETC. DOES THIS BOARD RECOMMEND THE CITY
COUNCIL FUND IN NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET?
The Louisville library has the second lowest number of staff to number of items
circulated for Colorado libraries serving 25,000- 100,000. We have the highest turnover
rate and the highest circulation rate in this group of Colorado libraries. The library staff
does an amazing job with a small staff.
We would like the City Council to fund two additional part -time librarians.
ARE THERE LEGISLATIVE ISSUES (NEW LAWS, AMENDMENTS, CODES, ETC.)
THIS BOARD WOULD ENCOURAGE THE CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER?
We hope the City Council will encourage legislative support for One Book for Colorado,
which supplies all four year olds in the state with a free book.
DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS FOR THE CITY COUNCIL?
No
RECOMMENDATION:
Discussion
ATTACHMENT(S):
1.
