City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />September 9, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> One book for Colorado <br /> World Book Night <br /> Little Libraries <br /> Community Food Share collection <br /> <br /> Library Staff Appreciation Lunch <br /> <br />Paul Karlzen discussed the goals for 2015: <br /> Reach out To non-users of the Library <br /> Continue and expand partnership with Community Food Share <br /> Market Gale Courses <br /> Expand Little Libraries <br /> Create mobile Library <br /> <br />Ms. Schuman discussed the accomplishments of the past year which included <br />construction of a new project room, partnering in pilot programs to promote STEM <br />(Science, Technology Engineering and Math), Discover Health, Jr. First Lego League, <br />Zometool, Anatomy in Clay. <br />Over 1200 children joined the revamped summer reading program. <br />Attendance at the Library is up over 30%. <br />Members of the public expressed appreciation for Library staff. Council thanked The <br />Library Board of Trustees and applauded their outreach. <br />Update/Discussion Historical Commission: <br />Dan Mellish reviewed the highlights of the past year for the Historical Commission. The <br />mission statement was updated and new bylaws adopted as a result of the creation of <br />the History Foundation and those duties no longer being with the Historical <br />Commission. <br />Over 900 new items were added to the Museum collection. <br />The Historical Commission participated in activities such as the Labor Day Parade, <br />Parade of Lights, numerous Library exhibits, Taste of Louisville. <br />The Historical Commission awarded the Pioneer award to Marion Junior who served 22 <br />years on the Historical Commission. <br />Staff Highlights <br /> Visitor stats remain steady 2500 visitors. <br /> Paid intern cataloguing of archives will allow for online search <br />
