City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />September 9, 2014 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br /> The Museum Coordinator supported the Planning Department by researching 45 <br />different historic buildings <br /> Louisville Historian was published quarterly <br /> Brown bag presentations <br /> Collected 20 Oral Histories to preserve the story of Louisville <br /> Hecla Mine Diving Tour <br /> 9 school class tours <br /> <br />They had several facility upgrades which included new wire shelves and interior doors <br />at Jordinelli House <br />The Foundation continues to do well: Fundraising was successful and membership <br />continues to grow. <br />Activities included: <br /> Volunteer event <br /> Pizzelles at Taste <br /> Historic book club tours <br /> Antique Safe has been cleaned and placed <br /> Historic walking tours <br /> Helburg Memorial booth <br /> <br />Mr. Mellish reviewed the goals included in the packet and discussed the adoption of a <br />Museum Master Plan. A group has been hired to conduct a needs assessment. <br />Volunteers discussed collecting oral histories and how vital that program is. <br />Council appreciated the school tours and how well written the Louisville Historian is. <br />Mayor Muckle said Council recognizes need for building and that storage space is an <br />urgent need. Council thanked the Historical Commission for their dedication. <br />Update/Discussion Retail Broker Roundtable <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton said the Business Retention and Development (BRaD) <br />committee held a retail broker roundtable on April 16, 2014 to hear form Denver Metro <br />retail brokers how the City might provide resources and assistance in recruiting and <br />maintaining strong retail opportunities as well as understanding the needs of retailers <br />today and in the future. <br />Economic Development Director Aaron DeJong presented the main themes of the <br />Roundtable: <br /> Retailers are scaling down footprints <br /> Vehicular access and visibility is critical <br /> The US 36 Corridor is overbuilt for retail and other corridors (I-25) are seeing big <br />growth and taking opportunities away <br />
