Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 18, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 9 <br />Erik Harntroft, spoke regarding the Grain Elevator. He stated they would like to apply <br />for a State Grant in October to look at educational opportunities in the reconstruction of <br />the working parts of the mill. <br />Kirk Watson stepped in as Chairperson. <br />Pre - filing Conference — 1140 Grant <br />Watson opened up the item. <br />Trice presented the items in the staff report, giving background of the structure including <br />historical photos. <br />Jason Delaney and Donte Arieta, applicants, spoke towards their request. They <br />currently live in Denver in a structure over 100 years old and want t examine the <br />opportunities they may have in Louisville, most specifically with landmarking and grants. <br />Watson stated he appreciated the open dialogue and asked what the long terms needs <br />and plans were. <br />Delaney stated their intention is to construct a possible small addition on the east side, <br />but no change to the street facing elements of the structure. He stated they also might <br />add a garage on the alley. <br />Arieta stated they are very interested in landmarking to save the structure. <br />Fahey recommended choosing a period of significance for the structure. <br />Arieta stated they are trying to find photos of the home from the 1900's. <br />Lauren stated Bridget Bacon, museum coordinator, will start working on the social <br />history. <br />Stewart stated he is excited they are interested in landmarking because the structure <br />has retained a good deal of the architectural integrity. <br />Arieta asked if the board had any suggestions for architects. <br />Stewart stated the City can't recommend — it will be more of a word of mouth process. <br />Watson stated the board provides design assistance. <br />Stewart volunteered to assist the applicants. <br />Fasick asked if the applicants had any information on the history of the structure. <br />Arieta gave a brief background of the house and property. <br />Fasick gave a background of the landmarking criteria and how this house might comply. <br />
