Business Retention & Development Committee
Meeting Minutes
August 4, 2014
REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
Commissioner Menaker asked if there has been any interest in the StorageTek site. DeJong
said he has talked to the State; it is non - marketable from the State's perspective. No business is
looking at that size site. Any interest includes a significant residential component.
Commissioner Menaker believes the height restriction is an obstacle.
Chair Dalton said BRaD will sponsor a Commercial Broker Roundtable soon.
DeJong said the flurry of multi - family housing being built is just catching up from few projects
being built since the 2008 recession.
COMMENTS:
Commissioner Lathrop said the south side of town is very inconvenienced by the County Road
bridge being out. The impact is very high. City Manager Fleming explained that the Federal
Highway Administration (FHWA) is holding it up and if it were a City project, it would be done
already. Fleming shares Commissioner Lathrop's frustration and has asked for Governor
Hickenlooper's help in exerting pressure on FHWA.
Randy Caranci said there is a lot of pedestrian traffic on Front Street between Pine and the
Grain Elevator site. The area needs more street lighting as it is pretty dark at night.
Mike Kranzdorf said the Thai Monkey Club opened and the food is very good.
DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING:
Buz Koelbel to attend to discuss Centennial Valley.
ADJOURN — The meeting adjourned at 9:05 am
