will prepare sketch level drawings illustrating each
of the proposed improvement. Opportunities and
constraints will be identified on the drawings. We
will also provide budgetary level cost estimates for
each. A summary spreadsheet will also be provided
to evaluate, compare, and prioritize the recommended
infrastructure improvements. This will also include a
suggested implementation / phasing plan.
Deliverables: PDF drawings of each proposed
improvement, cost estimates and evaluation /
prioritization spreadsheet.
3.2. Trail Naming
"Naming" conventions will be developed, considering
any combination of the following: by name
(i.e. historical, site features, community naming
conventions), color and/or symbol. "Naming" will be
evaluated where appropriate and to what level. A
phased implementation approach will be developed.
Deliverables: Renderings, in street view, of key
intersections and a map with corresponding
excel spreadsheet as described in 2.3.
4: EDUCATION & OUTREACH
4.1. Enhanced Maps
As referred to in 3.0, multiple mapping formats will be
necessary for this project and can be broken down
into three specific efforts:
• Working Map(s): To include Information Gathering
/ Enhanced Composite Mapping and Trail System
Analysis. Deliverable: Working maps in Google Earth,
ArcView and /or PDF formats.
• Planning Map(s): To include:
• Three concepts /options for review of naming
conventions
• Three concepts /options for review of map
revisions /redesign
• Sign inventory (to include all proposed signage,
sign types and verbiage.
• Trail improvement inventory (to include all
infrastructure improvements)
Deliverables: Maps in Google Earth, ArcView,
PDF & Al formats.
• Published Parks, Open Space and Trails Map (Public
Trail Map)
Deliverables: Maps in Google Earth, ArcView,
PDF & Al formats.
4.2. Public Education and Outreach
On -trail public outreach ideas to explore:
1. Utilize a symbolic representation of the system as
a repeated image that more quickly shows where
on the system the user is at a particular point.
2. Leave No Trace partnership
3. "Remove one earbud" campaign- be aware of who
is around you on the trail
4. Child bike safety tips- helmet safety
5. Proper multiple user yielding education
Community mapping exercise and surveys exploring
naming devices and establishing desired destinations/
nodes for primary trail corridors (to be performed at
scheduled community events).
Website mapping improvement: One
recommendation will include specific updates to the
website to increase trail user awareness, such as
a mileage distance table or measuring convention
between user's home, major nodes and/or for the
length of the primary trail corridors.
