(re: balancing Trust fund priorities for acquisition and <br />operations in OS and Parks) <br />Example: OSAB felt the Baptist Church property could well be a suitable <br />acquisition for park land, and the citizens at our meetings wanted our <br />advocacy, but OSAB had ranked that property as less desirable as Open <br />Space land. <br />How can we increase /improve lines of communication between Council <br />and OSAB? <br />Any changes to or guidance about OSAB's role in decision - making <br />processes with Council (strategic) and Staff (strategic and tactical)? <br />Would the Council be interested in brainstorming with OSAB on the vision for <br />Open Space and Parks in the future (20+ years out) and talking more about <br />ideas like: <br />o Trail Connectivity <br />o Caring for our Environment <br />o Focusing on Environmental, economic, and social health <br />o Priorities for protecting and conserving wildlife and habitat <br />o Developing Capital Exp. investment strategies /priorities <br />o Acquisition of buffers <br />o Investing in framework for volunteer opportunities <br />o Increasing education program offerings <br />o Staff development opportunities <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Continue open space budgeting and expenditure reporting and transparency in <br />Conservation Trust Fund public records <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />5 <br />
