Hole 1 will be seeded tomorrow and hole 2
green is ready for top soil and will be seeded next week. Greens on holes 4, 5, 7, 11, 14, 15,
16, 17 and 18 are already being mowed. Holes 6, 8 and 12 will have their first mowing next
week.
• Green covers were due today and will be deployed when frost is forecast. They will be
removed twice weekly for mowing while the new grass is still growing.
• All tee boxes are complete except for holes 1 and 2. Tee boxes on hole 12 have been ready
for seeding for some time but they are adjacent to the main access point for heavy vehicles.
These boxes will be seeded within 10 days once that access is no longer an issue.
• Many bunkers are complete and some are waiting for sand fill. This can be done at a later
date as it is weather independent and priority is being given to seeding and sod - laying
operations.
• Shaping the berm adjacent to HWY36 is on hold as the large bulldozer is being used to finish
green shaping and the smaller bulldozer suffered a mechanical failure. It is expected that the
drip irrigation will be completed on the berm and trees planted in the next three weeks.
• Fabrication is proceeding on the three new bridges with delivery expected in three weeks.
These will be prefabricated and a large crane is needed to position the 80 ton bridges.
Access to the hole 6 bridge will prove a challenge and multiple repositioning and lifts by the
crane is needed to avoid damage to cart paths etc.
• The laser- equipped tractor was vandalized by putting contaminant in the fuel tank. The
engine may be significantly damaged. So far, vandalism has been minor, other than this
incident.
• The warm wet weather recently has proved ideal for growth and the newly seeded greens and
fairways are germinating well.
• Joe Stevens estimates that the project is 85% complete based on progress and payments
authorized to LU.
Golf Course Tour Notes: October 8 2014 Page 1
9
