This revenue pays <br /> COLLECTED for approximately 38% of the City's <br /> budget. Remember <br /> that by spending your money locally <br /> 70 March 2003 % of Goal 98.3% you are supporting your City services. <br /> OPEN SPACE SURVEY <br /> The City recently completed a survey to determine public opinions COME OUT AND <br /> on open space issues. 372 surveys were completed by telephone <br /> using a random sample of households selected from the telephone book. JOIN US FOR <br /> Information gathered from this survey will be used to guide management THE ANNUAL <br /> goals for open space properties and to be sure that <br /> those goals are in line with the wishes of residents. SQUARE PARK <br /> Below are some examples of the survey results. <br /> •92% of respondents said that open space in and around Louisville was AND FOR <br /> important. FIREWORKS AT <br /> •49% said that they use the City's open space at least once a week. <br /> •69% of respondents feel open space is very important. <br /> •Respondents were almost evenly split between using the land for <br /> wildlife habitat (42%) and using it for recreation/exercise activities (48%). <br /> •84% of respondents say building more trails is somewhat or very <br /> F:"4" <br /> important. <br /> •74% of respondents say that providing a place where dogs can legally = =' <br /> run off leash is somewhat or very important. r_. <br /> .60% of respondents were opposed to the building of more parking lots <br /> on open space. <br /> - <br /> •97% of respondents said that environmental preservation was <br /> somewhat or very important. <br /> Summer 2003 8 <br />
