Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
October 20, 2014
Probable Cause Determination — 725 Lincoln
Trice presented the information in staffs report. She stated staff has found there is
probably cause for this application based on architectural significance and social
significance.
The applicant, Betty Solek, gave a presentation explaining the history of the current
residents should be considered. She stated she was on the Open Space Task Force,
Planning Commission, and her husband, Dave Clabott, was City Clerk and a City
Council member.
Watson asked if anyone from the public would like to speak on this subject. None were
heard.
Stewart stated he believed this was a wonderful property and is satisfied it has retained
architectural integrity and the social history is adequate as well. He recommends
approval.
Fahey agreed with Stewart and encourages landmarking.
Haley agrees with the others and believes the future addition would be fine.
Echohawk states she agrees with everyone and thought the social connection to the
Ludlow Mine was interesting.
Fasick asked if the current home has exterior blinds.
Solek stated they were roll down shutters.
Fasick stated the siding under the gables has changed, but otherwise it has retained its
integrity and should be eligible for landmarking.
Watson asked if the current siding was placed above the historic siding.
Solek stated she believes the original siding is below.
Watson stated he would be in support of removing the aluminum siding to reveal the
original siding. He agrees with the others on the board regarding the potential eligibility.
Fahey moved to approve the probable cause determination.
Echohawk seconded the motion.
Motion approved by voice vote.
PUBLIC HEARING — 817 Main Alteration Certificate
Watson asked if anyone needed to recuse themselves.
