Louisville City Council Meeting <br />January 7, 2003 <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />County Consultant who works with trash; and a Public Works Director from another <br />community that is involved with trash collection. <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons reported that AT & T Broadband has served notice to the <br />City that they will close the local business office at the end of January. The City <br />forwarded a letter to AT & T Broadband informing them that maintaining a local <br />business office is a provision of the Franchise Agreement. He reported AT&T <br />Broadband has taken out permits and is proceeding to upgrade their system, which would <br />provide high-speed Internet connections. The upgrades could be complete by the end of <br />April. Simmons hoped to schedule a meeting with AT&T Broadband for a future work <br />session to discuss the closure of the local office. <br /> <br />Simmons distributed a memo outlining the changes in the schedule of recreation fees. He <br />also reported Staff is working to finalize the Impact Fees Study. He stated he would <br />provide an update of the Police Department Building at the January 14, 2003 work <br />session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Mayer thanked staff for their support and patience. He tendered his resignation as a <br />member of Louisville City Council effective, Tuesday, January 14, 2003. <br /> <br />Brown asked City Manager Simmons for an update on the progress of the hockey rink. <br />Simmons stated he approved the sole-source contract to Environmental Concern, Inc. <br />(ECl), to provide the in-line rink and the purchase orders and requisitions have been <br />signed. He noted a lighting system must be identified that will be more appropriate to the <br />location. He stated he would provide written documentation to the Council. <br /> <br />Brown reported local businessman, Rick Winter succumbed to a stroke on Christmas day. <br />He recognized Mr. Winter for his contributions to the City of Louisville and downtown <br />businesses and expressed his condolences to the family. <br /> <br />Sisk reported on his participation in an interview session for a lobbyist for the US36 <br />corridor. He expressed his thanks to Assist City Administrator for Governmental <br />Relations Heather Balser for setting up the interviews and coordinating the various <br />entities. He stated the lobbyists expressed their satisfaction with the cohesiveness of the <br />entities along US36. He explained Mayor Davidson and Heather Balser would return to <br />Washington to conclude the interview process and to meet with congressional <br />representatives and senators. He asked the new County Commissioner, Tom Mayer for <br />his support. <br /> <br />Keany announced the Youth Advisory Board would meet on Thursday night, January 9, <br />2003, at 7:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers. <br /> <br />Sisk suggested the Youth Advisory Board meetings be televised. <br /> <br /> <br />
